I sent over my files in mp3 and was told that they sound super compressed. I am using Audacity to record and send the files....there was some hissing and pops. What settings are best for reducing the compression??
I appreciate your answers!!!! |

I have a usb mic hooked to the computer...
Audacity settings are:
Quality:
Default sample rate:44100HZ
Default sample format 24-bit
Realtime sample rate converter: Fast sync interpolation
High Quality sample rate converter: High Quality sync interpolation
Real time Dither: None
High Quality Dither: Triangle
File Formats Tab:
(I use mp3 to save my files)
MP3 Export setup
Mp3 Library Version: LAME v3.96
Bit Rate: 128
Spectrograms:256-default
Maximum Frequency Hz:8000
I wish I could say I knew what all this meant..but I dont....

Looks like the 8K hZ is the culprit, but I can't help you much-- I use a different recording program.
Someone here will abe able to help. If your tracks souns fine when you play them back in Audacity, something is getting squashed on conversion.

Assuming that the recording is clean--playing back your file on your system DOES sound clean, right?--there could be a problem on their end. Not unheard of. I had a client that asked, "You'll MP3 an AIFF file, right?" |

Mary,
Try changing the setting on the MP3 tab so that the bit rate is something like 192 instead of 128.
And, I'd be happy to listen to your audio as well if you would email a copy to me.

After looking into Audacity, the Spectograms setting has nothing to do with audio output quality.
Hearing a sample of your problem would be a great way to help solve your problem. |

Remember - over compressed has nothing to do with noise, so you might have TWO different things to tackle here.
