Hi folks. Myself and a fellow VO from the same region have been working out the logistics of a "Voice Actor's Circle", conceptually similar to a writer's group.

The target audience is any voice talent in the Greater Puget Sound region of Washington State (between Olympia and Seattle) who wants to improve their craft by working with others in an environment that supports honest peer feedback and supportive criticism.

I've been reaching out directly to folks whom I have attended VO workshops and classes with, primarily those who are new or aspiring talent. I'd like the group to be between 8 and 12 people optimally, but that number may change as we learn how the dynamics work.

Meetings will be monthly on a Saturday, in the SeaTac area as being relatively central to the region and easiest to get to for most of us. The specific location has not yet been determined but will almost certainly be at one of the excellent libraries in the area which provide public meeting spaces.

There is no cost or charge. The only criteria are that you must be serious about improving your VO craft and willing to help others in doing so in a supportive and polite manner. We are also interested in established voice talents who would be willing to come out and maybe offer a workshop, Q&A, or some other activity.

This is not a one-time class or a workshop, it will be an ongoing concern. The first meetup is scheduled for January, and if you're interested in being involved, please PM me here or send me email at cyclometh@gmail.com.

Thank you!

The first meeting went swimmingly and I can't thank all the awesome people who attended enough! Much cool discussion and lots of good advice was shared. Smile

I'll post an update here for the next one, which will be next month at around the same day/time.

Corey-

Thanks for arranging the circle and and coordinating the location. I think we all walked away with a gem or two of goodness and knowledge. I'm looking forward to the next time. I promise to do a better job remembering people's names.

Thanks, JC and Jen! It was wonderful to meet you.

I've reserved the same location for February 12, 2011, 1:30 to 4 PM.

I've also set up a Yahoo Group for us to use to coordinate communications. If you're interested in being part of the PSVAC, shoot me an email at cyclometh@gmail.com and I'll add you to the group!

I'm hoping you'll have another one in Portland, Amy, 'cause then I'll be SO THERE. Laugh

It's a six hour round trip from here for a three hour event, but I'm tempted. One of these days. Me dear mither lives an hour north of Seattle so maybe I'll combine trips.
