thanks to g.p. i think i'm going with two units - a ups and a power conditioner. i just want to try to get rack-mount units for both due to closet space restrictions. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

The Power conditioner will level out what is coming INTO your casa, making it clean, consistent and without spikes. If we all hooked up a "VU meter" (if you will) to the power coming in to our homes we would be amazed at the wild fluctuations that occur. Damn Power companies.
An Uninterrupted Power Supply simply ensures that power will continue for a period of time during a total Power failure (battery) allowing you time to save whatever it is you are working on and shut down. In my world, the UPS allows our computer dependent radio stations to continue functioning until the generator kicks in which is fairly quick. _________________ jonahcummings |

so - this may be obvious - but the order would be: power bastids > ups > power conditioner > my expensive stuff ... right? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
