I HATE the QT players that are making my demos page really slow. What's out there that's as quick as Flash but that work with iPads etc??? What do you use?

Thx!!

I'm using the wordpress flash players with small "download" links for those without Flash which just link to the MP3s.

Unfortunately, the web is in a bit of a transition from flash to HTML5.

I use a pop up mp3 player that is java scripted. When I designed my website I wanted a fast load time so you didn't have to go out to the store and get Ding Dongs and come back to see the page was only half loaded.

If you check out my site and use the view source you can see the code.
Works great and your page loads fast.

I second what Jeff uses. In fact, I still have a copy of the instructions somehere Jeff sent me a loooong time ago to get the players on my site.

Nice little players that don't take up a lot of room and load quickly.

Hmm - but isn't that flash ? Meaning it won't play on an iPad for instance? Or am I just not getting it?

I'm not the greatest wizz when it comes the websites. But I do understand the new wave is HTML5. This is what will play on iPods Pads it, will also play on most browsers now. So what I think you need to find is an HTML5 player, and I believe they are out there.

What might be another option (for now) is two pages, one for flash media, and another for iHardwareİ (Mike Sommer 2010) devices.

I believe the big switch to HTML5 for everyone will be taking place in the next 5 years, though it's already taking place now.

Melissa, have you actually checked your analytics to see how many of your visitors are using iPod/iPads? If the number is statistically irrelevant, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Here's an HTML 5 one. I tried their demos on Chrome and IE8. Both worked. but apparently there's some question as to whether it works on Firefox. YMMV

This test shows it works fine on Firefox:

Thanks for finding this! I think I will change out my players with this one.

I think the reality of people using iPhones iPods or any other mobile device is the future. No need to be behind the curve. I say, Adapt now.

The ability to play audio is actually built into HTML5 as the new "Audio" tag so there is no need for a separate audio player, unless you need extra features or more control over the look of the player.

I use these tags to run the demos on my site. While this does require that the visitor is using a fairly recent browser, I'm guessing that the people most likely to be interested in my demos are those who are keeping reasonable up to date with their software.

Cheers.
