That usually shows up in the "other" menu for both RTAS and Audiosuite. |
'Tried everything: installing, uninstalling, re-booting...even sacrificed a small dog, but Inspector just doesn't show up under Audiosuite's "other" or RTAS or "Plug-ins" or anywhere, even though I can see it loading when Pro-Tools is launching.
Anybody got any other suggestions how to get it to show up?

What version of PT are you running? That could make a difference.
A visit to the DUC at digidesign.com may be in order. There's some experts (PT mega-geeks) there for sure. |

I'm running M-powered Pro-Tools 7.1....
Guess you're right, I'll take your advice (and mine from the top of this thread), and try the DUC.

I'm not running M-Power, but PT 6.9. If Inspector is loading and installing, you may have to "move" the plug-in files to the "right" location. Even that may not get it for you. That's because the files in the right location may point to other files. But, here's the general set-up and hack I'd try assuming you're running M$ XP:
C: -> Program Files ->
Under Program Files you'll see a bunch of folders for various installed applications that contain programs or subroutines, etc.
Elemental Audio (now RNR), the maker of Inspector, should be there. However, that folder may or may not contain files named "inspector.dpm" and "inspector.dbm.rsr."
Suggest you do a searh for *.dpm files or a file with "dpb" in the string. Those are the files you'll need for mono and stereo plug in.
"dpm" files are kept in the Digidesign plug-in folder. All plug-ins in that folder are seen from that folder. Sort of like what goes on in Las Vegas, stays in . . . well, you get the idea. So, if you're not "seeing" a plug-in while in Pro Tools, it's because the plug-in ain't there, in Las Vegas, as it were. It's location:
c: -> Program Files -> Common Files -> Digidesign -> Plug Ins:
That's it! If a plug-in is in the Plug In folder, you should be able to see it in PT. Now, that may or may not solve your problem. If Inspector's dpm file (or dpm.rsr) file points back to the Elemental folder and it's in a location that's not there, or if the Elemental folder has files that are trying to point to the Plug In folder that appears elsewhere with the M-Audio install, you may find you've got ships passing in the night.
Take a look and give it a try. If you find inspector.dpm not in the plug in folder, then you know what you're facing.
I don't know how to de-compile a file and point it in the right direction.

Edit: Now that I think about file locations, it may be that M-Powered PT may store plug-in's in a different location than PT. So, you may have to find plug-in's that work on your system and then move Inspector there.

Wow! Thanks for your involved response. I've been digging and found all the inspector files you mentioned under Program Files, and under Roger Nichols Digital, and under common files, etc., etc., etc....
Inspector files seem to be exactly where they're supposed to be per your instructions...the *.dpm...the *.rsr and all.... but guess what?....still no Inspector showing up in the "more" option under the drop-down plug-ins....when I run the program.
I dunno....I'll figure it out.... people like to play computer games.... I think the COMPUTER IS the game.

There have been some great things posted here about getting help for ProTools. USE THIS INFORMATION!
Work hard on your choice of editors. Each and every one has it's merits and it's drawbacks. Use what you have and make it work for you.
I have tried PSP VintageMeter, and was impressed.
