Hi All,

I got a question this morning about a file for a phone system

Here are the specifics:

- uLaw format (also known as G.711 format) - NOT WAV or MP3
- mono
- 8000 hz (this is absolutely critical)
- 8 bit (16 bit does not work and will sound like static)
- files should be normalized to about -12db RMS loudness

*Most of the time when the files are recorded in the proper format they will have the ending of .raw.

I have protools and adobe audition. When I look at the options in adobe audition, I can create this file as a ulaw but the file extension is always wav.

I can get the raw extension if I use the pcm dropdown. Any ideas what will work?

Thanks so much!

Kathy

Sorry Kathy,
I only just saw this (I don't usually troll the gear section Wink )

Yes, the format you are talking about is a telephony format and no, neither PT nor AA convert to it.

I can certainly do it for you.
If it's only a few files, call me.

If it's more....then....

You're missing the ".com" on the link in your post, but I've added it here in my response.

Any way...

Cool business idea, Liz. Way to go!

Liz!

Actually, that job is finished and the client is happy, so of course I'm happy too. I checked out the convert my files link (with the .com at the end) and have saved it for the future. I'm doing quite a bit of phone work and it's reassuring to know that help is just a click away!

Also, I realize now that I should have posted this in chat.... and I would have gotten more responses and attention. Duh... I'll try to remember that for next time! Anyhow, THANK YOU LIZ !!!

It's a software problem, not a hardware problem. Smile
