|
|
The movers are coming on the 14th and my wife and daughter are on their way to Boston right now. So, I get to get the rest of the house packed. Saturday morning was spent scraping the crappy flooring up in our bathroom so our friend Gerard can put ceramic tiles in this coming weekend.
Then I excavated my daughter's room and made it realtor-friendly. I moved the shelves from next to the door to the spot across the room where the dresser was. The dresser is now where the shelves used to be. It makes it seem larger, anyway.
Now I have cardboard skyscrapers in my briefly-clean living room. There's another cluster of boxes just like this in the garage. Note the home-made record shelves to the right. Each cube holds about 75-80 LPs. I made two more shelving units exactly like this one. And I wondered why I was broke all the time in college...
I hope Andrea finds a big house for us to live in...

I do not envy you, my friend.
When DeWitt and I moved to the house we now live in, he said that was IT-- the LAST TIME he's moving-- ever. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

I know better than to declare that just yet. Andrea's looking for temporary housing this weekend, so we'll do that for a year or so and then have to move into a house once we can buy one. She has been talking to a lady who has a house for rent that is also for sale. It's a 230-year-old colonial that has had a lot of work done to it. Having grown up in L.A. and Texas (where anything over 100 years old is ANCIENT), that kind of boggle my mind...
Can't wait. _________________ Greg Littlefield

LOL! I'm going to make a bumpersticker that says that and slap it on the back of my car as I tow it along behind me.
I was also going to take shoe polish and write "ADIOS MOFO" on the back window... Andrea said I probably shouldn't do that, though... _________________ Greg Littlefield

I like a clean slate, too! I'm much more partial to moving than Dieter is.
I'd like moving more if I didn't have to move the stuff.
I just want to get on a plane and have my stuff arrive later.

I'm still waiting for the garage-sized Transporter Room, myself.
MAN, that would be sweet... _________________ Greg Littlefield

So Greg....when does the computer get packed?....or does that just stay operational while in transit?
Personally, I was kinda hopin' for a pic from all the gas stations along the way, as a sort of logbook of the journey. ;-}

I don't leave for about two weeks, but I'll be sure to send updates. I'm a logbook kinda guy, you know.
And the computer gets packed LAST. I'm getting rid of stuff through a Yahoo group called Austin Freecycle, so I need to stay online as long as possible. It's basically a group of 14,000 folks in town that don't want their unused items to end up in the land fills here. It's pretty cool. I picked up a cage for my larger dog this morning. For FREE. _________________ Greg Littlefield

What you moving for man? ME is a long way from Austin..... What the heck is ME anyway?? Maine?? What is there state motto....it's all about ME? Sorry, I had to.
Anyway, you should be able to get some good cardboard box/room reverb that can't be duplicated by the best of processors. Enjoy it while it lasts man. I feel your pain. _________________ Ben

I moved a lot in the 70's and 80's in radio. We moved 4 times in five years in the early 1990's. Bought this house almost ten years ago and plan on retiring here. I am not moving again if it is my choice. I HATE MOVING!!!! My back still hurts.
