Thanks Rob, for the good advice. I am working with Michael on the acoustics but am not sure if I will be able to make terribly drastic changes. I am planning on returning the Portable Vocal Booth, as I felt it just closed in the sound way too much and it is somewhat of a pain to use.
I am not worried about selling off the Soundelux U195 mic as nobody really liked it and I was able to get a good deal on a Gefell M930. The 416 I am selling is one I don't use. I have another one in as-new condition that I plan on testing against the other two when the studio is finalized.
While I have you, did you have hum issues with the UM70S when you used it? I think the grounding I did to my house plus a new Canare 4-wire cable did the trick for me, but I was wondering if you had any insight. On the internet people recommend re-wiring a cable, which I did and it worked, but I was kind of surprised since none of my other mics exhibited the buzz.

I did not have any issues with the Um70, other than that to my ear I sounded better on the M930., and no ground buzz although I have read on some gear forums that others have experienced that.
I have great regard for the UM70 and for Gefell as a mic company.
I will be interested to hear what your impressions are of the M930--think you will like it. |
