So got a contact out of the blue wanting to know if I would be willing to narrate a video for a court trial. Of course I will. Anybody ever done this? I've never heard of doing that before. I'm excited, wonder what it will be. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Brian,
I did a lot of these for a company in Houston last year; the "trials" were for patent litigation, and the videos were Flash presentations stating the client's case. Very wordy, very technical stuff. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

Oh yeah! MJ!
Nope, this is for a trial in Florida somewhere. I don't think he's been down there lately, but doesn't OJ live there now? _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Yep, and Elton John, Donald Trump, what's left of the BeeGees, Rosie O'Donnel and several thousand drug dealers. Have fun!

Trial VO is a unique arena. To be specific, you must sound professional and like an expert, yet still be conversational and friendly - so the Jury does not hear hype.
Depending upon your point of view - Prosecution or Defense your tone and style may change slightly... Don't make this mistake. Think of a Newscaster (Courvo) while doing your VO. Be objective.
The person Greg refers to probably wants to remain anonymous about his/her legal skills as this is not the place to discuss that forte'. Although, personally I would sugest that each of us gain as much knowledge of the legal system as possible, regarding our business.
What do you charge? Hey, at least as much as the Lawyers... You may "make or break their case". They charge how much per hour...? Or, are getting what perentage of the 'award'?

Most of the time, the jury never gets to see the video, if it makes it's point it leads to settlment, which is its real purpose anyway. If they're smart (more commonsense smart) there won't be much legalese in the script. |
