Does anyone have a good template for an invoice? If someone could post one that I can use, I would really appreciate it. I'm typing them out by hand and I know that you guys have to have developed something professional looking that you use over and over. I would be eternally grateful if someone could share. Here's a Word Doc sample version of one of mine:

Of course much of the data has been revised to protect the guilty.

I've tried demos of a number of reasonably priced accounting programs recently (Quick Books, MYOB and a handful from Tucows.com) and they all have relatively blah or ugly looking invoices....mechanical and poorly aligned and such. And none of them had nice looking or clear (or any) month-end statements. I have a small number of clients who have up to 6 or 7 invoices out at a time and clear montly statements of invoices out vs. payments in would be helpful to both parties.
I guess if you really want a good looking invoice you can get an accounting program that will work with pre-printed forms, but most are pricey for us sole proprietors.

Thank You Bruce! This is great. I will invest in an accounting program eventually. Right now I just don't need something like that tho unless all of a sudden everyone and their mother starts wanting my services. The sample you gave me is great for now. I appreciate it. ThankYou so much.
Tom.....thanks, I'll check into Quickbooks. _________________ TG2

I let my wife handle all that stuff. She's an accountant for UNC and handles millions every day (on paper anyway). She's more than qualified to handle my small vo business. She chose Quickbooks over Quicken but I have no idea why. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Brian, it's been my experience that Quicken is more for personal household expense management and Quickbooks is geared more toward business accounting and has a lot more features that are geared toward that. That's the basic difference between the two. _________________ Greg Littlefield

QuickBooks Pro for me. Invoicing is clean and professional looking.
Oh, And if you haven't checked it out lately...QB newest version is really slick! Once set up (a small learning curve but there are templates to get you up and going) all my accounting for the month is done in about 20 minutes! And at the end of the year...click one button and all the tax information is off to my accountant...ahhhhhhhhhhh! _________________ .
