Sound Max digital audio is usually built into the mobo, and right near the video card which is probably causing the hiss. If the PC is 5 years old the USB ports might not even be present or woudl be version 1.0, which may or may not be good enough.
A short term solution would be to use Audacity's noise reduction tool to filter out that hiss. It may take too much out of your voice, or it may not, but heck it's worth a shot. |

Windscreen, no pop filter.
So, I was looking around online for Sound Cards and I found a few:
M-Audio Revolution $99.95
Terratec Aureon $22.99
E-Mu 0404 $???
Any thoughts? |
