Hi gang. I just bought Harlan Hogan's new book "The Voice Actor's Guide to Home Recording". It has got a lot of good information and is very readable. Some excerpts from the table of contents: Choosing a computer for home recording, putting together a studio, basic production, isdn & phone patch basics, promotion & marketing, the Web & VO.......good stuff. OOOH, just saw this, there's also a Website he's maintaining for actors w/home recording sudios: Audio Smart Actors.

I really like his other book too, it's my favorite on VO. Here's the link on Amazon:

I had the Home Studio book ordered for a while from Amazon and got some notice about its being delayed or something. So, I ended up canceling the order from Amazon and ordering directly from Harlan. Haven't gotten it, yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I read his first book a few months ago and it's definitely a great book.

I just got the book too. It's a good book for the beginner or one who isn't that technical (like me). But for the VO person who has a general knowledge of equipment and has worked with editing software, you probably don't even need this book. Try for something that gets a little more specific with the technical aspects of a home studio. Just my thoughts.

Hi all,

I haven't read the book you're all recommending but I'm going to look it up - it sounds like it has some good information.

I have read "The Art of Voice Acting" by James Auberger and loved it!
