Hey everyone,

For those that use an MKH416 mic, I'd like to know what you are using for a shock mount that's reasonably priced. I saw a Rode SM4 that looks like it would work, but I'm not sure. I do like the elastic suspension as opposed to the rubber dealie.

For the 416, I'd recommend the M600 for ease of use.

Avantone makes a nice shockmount for small condenser/shotgun size mics.

Give it a Google. Got mine for about $40. It uses four "O" rings at each end for suspension and is very nicely built.

Audio Technica also makes a good shockmount for shotgun mics. Probably the best elastic suspension shockmount I've seen (though it sounds a lot like the Avantone).

Toss in the Pearstone suspenders and you've got a rock solid system for most shotgun mics.

I got Rode mount for shotguns on sale somewhere, and when the o-rings that hold the mic wore out, I employed the purple rubber bands from my asparagus purchases. Stylish, effective, and easy to find for future replacement.

Have you tried using a fanned out array of asparagus stalks as a pop filter.

It's sooo much better than talking into a bowl of shredded turnip.

I bought mine on Ebay. There's one listed right now if you search Ebay for "Shock Mount Sennheiser MKH 416." It's a $36.99 buy it now price.

That looks like the one I bought but it's a different seller name so I can't personally vouch for it.

No complaints - it does what it's supposed to do and is sturdy.
