... as a matter of fact, I dislike knick-knacks that are there just to take up space, and things I have to dust. My husband, however, has always said he'd wish I'd find an interest in something to collect... that it would be a fun hobby to have.
For my birthday earlier this month, my best friend gave me an article that had been in my hometown paper about yours truly... she had it professionally framed. It's awesome, and one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received.
And, after seeing Kara's wonderful studio... and also the likes of Randy Thomas and all of the things she's collected over the years....
I've decided to do the same!! Finally, I have something to collect! I just bought the Hannah Montana Holiday Pop Star doll to start my collection of things I've voiced commercials for. I wish I could buy all the HM stuff I voiced commercials for, but wow... that Malibu Beach House is $160!! LOL.
Do you guys do the same, and if so, want to show us pics of your collection? _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I did a spot for some Manhattan condos. May I have one please for a souvenir of my VO work? How about that local Infinity spot? Wouldn’t one look nice in the driveway?
Oh, you expect me to buy it?? Don' the movie stars get goodie bags at the Oscars? Well, VO peeps, let's start a new trend. Goodie bags for us. _________________ Gregory Best

I collect figures from video games and some anime cartoons as well as anime cel art.
Wish I had art from a character I've voiced, but all the stuff I do is in Flash. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I collect original comic book art -- mostly pieces I've commissioned, as opposed to art that's actually been published.
If you like that sort of thing, you can check out my online gallery.
Once of these days, I'd love to be able to say that I own art depicting a character I've actually voiced. For now, I'll have to add that to another collection of mine... my list of as-yet-unfulfilled goals. _________________ Michael Rankins

That's very cool, Michael (and welcome to the vo-bb, btw). I think it's cool that people still collect comic books. And, I have no doubt that since you're so passionate about those characters that you'll end up voicing one of them someday.
Greg, you're right, but they haven't sent me samples. I was told I might get a copy of a video game I did recently, but haven't seen it yet. I don't mind buying the items though... I'm excited to start my collection.
This project is leading to bigger things. Since I cleaned out the half of my studio that was a closet in order to make it shelves for collecting (and I've now emptied every closet in my house in an attempt to try to re-fit things somewhere... a huge project!), I found a Barbie my Mom had bought me one Christmas. I'd forgotten all about it... and it wasn't that significant to me until now. It's still in the original packaging, never opened... it's the Barbie edition of Glinda the Good Witch of the North from the Wizard of Oz. whom I played in my theatrical debut in the 8th grade. LOL. Another thing to exhibit in my collection!!! YAY!!
Weird, but it's kinda like my Mom knew I'd have a use for this doll one day. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Caryn, I was just joking with you and hoping for bigger items in my stocking. Well, I did get a new truck, but it wasn't from Santa and it came with monthly payments.
Why not dream big, it doesn't cost anything to dream.
My token for the condo spot is probably a Monopoly game piece to place on the Park Avenue square of the game board. Wii, I don't have one I am still playing games the old fashioned way - PS2. Liz, Wii, isn't that a French word?
Let's all have a great weekend!!! _________________ Gregory Best

Aside from books, which I collect like furniture collects dust, I also collect "faces." That is, when I travel anywhere, I try to buy a mask or a facial depiction from the local culture(s). So far I have about two dozen masks, sculptures, etc. depicting faces from Native American tribes in the U,.S., cultures in Mexico, Peru, Greece, Tunisia, and other places I've visited over the years. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

That's a very cool collection CC!!
Greg, I knew you were kidding... but I do agree... I think it would be great to get a goodie bag like they do at the Oscars. Heck, I'd take just the trash bag. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

CC, that is very cool. And Michael, welcome. Hubby and I started collecting original comic book art we commissioned, too. It was a complete accident but a perfect one. We have too many small collections of things that I'm trying to rid the house of. The big collections that will stay - African masks and musical instruments.
Caryn, that is a great idea to start collecting things you've voiced for. Save yourself and don't open that package, though!! My neighbor gave the girls each one of those dolls and holy annoying. Not only are they too young for it, it's LOUD. hee.
If I started a voiced-for collection I'd have a strange collection of pay-per-view movies, dentist services, hotel amenities and operators waiting to take your call. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

I have a collection of Barbies going back to the 1960s. Never voiced for one but would've LOVED to have done her line,

Sounds like a good idea... but making the room is the hard part. Maybe when I fianlly get the new studio put together. In the meantime I've been collecting Disney Pixar Cars diecasts for a while and having fun. Haven't had the pleasure of voicing for PIXAR.... yet!
I haven't figured out how to post pictures on this forum yet.... otherwise I'd show you a few. _________________ Dave DeAndrea

I've got a collection of Hot Wheels and other diecast cars. And like Dave, trying to find room for them. Probably close to 800 now; most are stored in boxes in the closet. A few loose ones are sitting on a bookshelf, and the windowsill, and around my desk... Nothing makes you feel like a kid again than rolling a Hot Wheels car across your desk. SFX optional.)
