Good news: I scored a great deal on an unused bucket of Green Glue off of Craigslist.

Bad news: Using the bulk-loading caulk to apply the Green Glue has been... interesting. Latex gloves are a ...

Thanks Gary... I haven't started construction yet, I'm still in the acquisition and "carefully tweak the budget to avoid divorce" stage. Your post makes me feel like I'm heading in the righ ...

Jason, you've actually got me thinking about your simpler plan pretty seriously. After looking at some photos and videos, your idea is pretty much exactly how most of the common pre-fab booths are ma ...

Jason,

Thoughts similar to yours had definitely crossed my mind... less expensive, and a little thinner to give me precious headroom. I'm already in a spot where my audiology booth isn't doing eno ...

Sorry, I should have been more clear. This will be a completely free-standing booth, with airspace on all sides including above.

I'm completely expecting to need some treatment on the ceiling... a ...

So my current little teeny-tiny audiology booth just isn't cutting it. It's hard to come off as "casual, cool and relatable" when you're recording from in a space where both shoulders touch ...

Nearly all of my gear has come from Guitar Center's used listings. I've gotten some awesome deals there - iTrack solo for $49, CAD E100 for $119, and a 416 for $579, and it's all been in excellent to ...

I like that. A bit of hiss, but you had the gain up high because this was a quiet read, right?

Correct... I still need to play with it and see if hitting the +20db switch and dialing the gain back ...

I completely agree... spending $xxx on tubes made from Unobtainium would be a little ridiculous for this. I found some NOS Sylvania 12AX7A's on ebay for $15 shipped, and it seems like that's worth a ...

Just ask yourself how much improvement is actually possible with a rare expensive tube (that has a short life).

Rare and expensive definitely isn't on my radar... I might be tempted to spend $30-40 ...
