I tried out XBMC, but ultimately migrated to Plex which is based on XBMC. I've been using it for a couple of years now and am completely cable free. Check it out here:http://www.plexapp.com/

Right now mine is at about -66dB with a Sennheiser 416 / Avalon 737sp combo. I use a 7x7 Whisper Room. What does yours look like?
